Major League Baseball featured a seven-game schedule Thursday, August 27, 2026, highlighted by a vintage performance from Atlanta Braves left-hander Chris Sale.
Sale pitched his first complete game in more than seven years and struck out 11 as Atlanta blanked the Los Angeles Dodgers. Elsewhere, Jac Caglianone powered Kansas City’s 13-run outburst, Jackson Chourio homered twice for Milwaukee and Houston held the Yankees to one run.

Keibert Ruiz added a two-run homer, Brady House doubled home two runs and Jacob Young reached base three times while stealing two bases. Washington’s bullpen supplied 4⅔ scoreless innings after starter Jake Irvin departed in the fifth.

Kansas City Royals 13, Toronto Blue Jays 2
Jac Caglianone produced career highs with five hits and six RBIs as the Kansas City Royals overwhelmed the Toronto Blue Jays, 13-2.
Caglianone delivered two separate two-run singles before adding a two-run homer in the ninth. Vinnie Pasquantino homered and drove in three runs, while Carter Jensen opened the game with his 18th home run.
Noah Cameron limited Toronto to two runs over six innings. George Springer supplied the Blue Jays’ offense with a two-run homer, but Kansas City scored six times in the sixth to turn the game into a rout. (Reuters)

Chris Sale threw a complete-game shutout as the Atlanta Braves completed a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Sale allowed five hits, issued no walks and struck out 11 over 109 pitches. The complete game was his first since June 5, 2019, and Atlanta’s first three-game sweep of the Dodgers since May 2013.
Drake Baldwin provided the only run by hitting Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s first pitch of the bottom of the first inning over the fence. Yamamoto allowed only one run over 6⅓ innings but received no offensive support. (Reuters)

Houston Astros 5, New York Yankees 1
Christian Walker recorded three hits and launched a two-run homer as the Houston Astros defeated the New York Yankees, 5-1.
Walker broke open the game with his sixth-inning homer against Gerrit Cole. Jeremy Peña added a solo shot in the seventh after Isaac Paredes had opened the scoring with an RBI single in the third.
Hayden Wesneski held New York to one run on three hits over five-plus innings. Cody Bellinger’s sacrifice fly accounted for the Yankees’ only run. Cole allowed three runs across six innings and fell to 7-7. (Reuters)

Jordan’s second-inning homer helped St. Louis establish an early advantage, while former Orioles infielder Ramón Urías added a two-run shot. Gordon Graceffo retired all nine hitters he faced during a three-inning spot start.
Baltimore mounted a late comeback behind Coby Mayo’s three-run homer and Gunnar Henderson’s RBI double. Riley O’Brien protected the lead in the ninth for his 34th save, helping the Cardinals avoid a sweep. Jordan left the game late with an apparent ankle injury. (reuters.com)

Gabriel Moreno tied the game with a fourth-inning homer, but Gilbert’s fifth-inning sacrifice fly restored San Francisco’s lead. The Giants then scored four times in the eighth, receiving RBI hits from Bryce Eldridge, Jonah Cox and Turner Hill.
Landen Roupp limited Arizona to one run over five innings. Three Giants relievers completed the six-hitter with four scoreless frames. (Reuters)
