Cleveland Guardians 9, Chicago White Sox 3
Cleveland scored four runs in the third inning and pulled away late, cutting Chicago’s American League Division Series lead to 2-1.
The White Sox struck first on Kyle Teel’s RBI double. However, Steven Kwan tied the game with a third-inning single before Jo Adell cleared the bases with a three-run triple. Adell’s second postseason triple moved him into a tie with Kenny Lofton for second in Cleveland history.
José RamÃrez then manufactured a run in the fifth and added a two-run triple in the eighth. Meanwhile, Cleveland’s pitchers repeatedly escaped trouble and combined for 19 strikeouts, setting a postseason record for a nine-inning game.
Finally, Angel Genao and Brayan Rocchio supplied ninth-inning insurance. As a result, Cleveland forced Game 4 and denied Chicago an opportunity to clinch at home. MLB game story
Winning pitcher: Foster Griffin (1-0)
Losing pitcher: Bryan Hudson (1-1)
Los Angeles Dodgers 4, Atlanta Braves 1
Andy Pages delivered a go-ahead, two-run single in the seventh inning as Los Angeles eliminated Atlanta and advanced to the National League Championship Series.
Atlanta opened the scoring when Michael Harris II came home on a wild pitch. Nevertheless, Shohei Ohtani answered in the second. He stole second, moved to third on an error and scored when Atlanta committed another fielding mistake.
The 1-1 tie lasted until Pages produced Los Angeles’ only hit with runners in scoring position during the entire series. Max Muncy later added a ninth-inning homer, the 19th postseason home run of his career.
Edgardo Henriquez earned the victory, while Edwin DÃaz finished the ninth. Consequently, the Dodgers won the series 3-1 and returned to the NLCS. MLB game story

Losing pitcher: Tyler Mahle (0-1)

Tampa Bay Rays 4, New York Yankees 3
Victor Mesa Jr. hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning, and Tampa Bay held off New York to complete a three-game AL Division Series sweep.
Jonathan Aranda put the Rays ahead with an RBI single in the third. New York answered through Ben Rice, but Ryan Vilade restored Tampa Bay’s lead with a solo homer in the fourth. The Yankees again tied the game on Spencer Jones’ RBI double.
Mesa then supplied the decisive swing against Max Fried. Anthony Volpe brought New York within one when replay review turned an apparent homer into an RBI double because of fan interference.
Still, Kevin Kelly escaped an eighth-inning threat, and Bryan Baker struck out Trent Grisham for the final out. Therefore, Tampa Bay advanced to the American League Championship Series with a 3-0 series victory. MLB game story

Milwaukee Brewers 3, San Diego Padres 1

Garrett Mitchell drove home the opening run in the third. Fernando Tatis Jr. immediately answered with a solo homer, which left his bat at 110.6 mph for San Diego’s hardest-hit ball of the postseason.
However, Mitchell tripled in the fifth and scored on Jackson Chourio’s RBI single. Sal Frelick added a sacrifice fly in the sixth, giving Milwaukee’s bullpen a two-run cushion.
The Padres threatened again in the seventh, but Mason Miller stranded the bases loaded. Afterward, Mitchell made a difficult catch at the wall, and Trevor Megill finished Milwaukee’s first road postseason victory since 2018. Thus, the Brewers won the series 3-1 and advanced to face Los Angeles in the NLCS. MLB game story
