Crow-Armstrong’s third-inning homer accounted for all of Chicago’s scoring. The Cubs did not record another hit, but their pitching staff made the narrow lead stand.

Cal Quantrill pitched seven scoreless innings as Texas blanked the American League-leading Rays.
Quantrill limited Tampa Bay to three hits before the Rangers’ bullpen completed the shutout. Texas took the lead in the fourth, scored three times in the fifth and added two insurance runs in the eighth.

The Athletics collected 14 hits and scored in six different innings to defeat Seattle.
The Athletics established a 2-0 advantage before Seattle scored three times in the first. They reclaimed the lead with two runs in the fifth and added one run in each of the sixth, eighth and ninth innings.
Scott Blewett earned his first victory of the season, and Hogan Harris recorded his 14th save as the Athletics secured their second consecutive win.
