Pete Alonso reached 40 home runs with the decisive blast in Baltimore, Detroit overwhelmed Washington and San Francisco’s rookies supplied an early spark.
Although the schedule was compact, the MLB scores from September 21, 2026 still delivered a late comeback, a blowout and a rookie-driven victory.
First, Baltimore erased a 3-1 deficit against Toronto when Alonso hit a two-run homer in the eighth. Meanwhile, Detroit struck for nine runs in the first five innings. Baltimore Orioles 4, Toronto Blue Jays 3
Pete Alonso hit his 40th home run of the season, a two-run shot in the eighth inning that lifted Baltimore from behind and turned Toronto’s fast start into a 4-3 Orioles victory.
The Blue Jays scored three times in the first on run-scoring singles by Nathan Lukes and George Springer and a sacrifice fly from Sean Keys. However, Alonso answered with a solo homer in the bottom half. Then, Gunnar Henderson cut the deficit to one with his 24th homer in the sixth. Two innings later, Alonso completed the comeback. His 40-homer campaign is the 10th in Orioles franchise history since the club moved to Baltimore in 1954. MLB game story

Ben Malgeri homered, doubled and made two standout catches as Detroit built a 9-0 lead by the fifth inning and cruised past Washington.
Hao-Yu Lee and Eduardo Valencia drove in first-inning runs before Javier Báez hit a two-run homer in the fourth. Next, Malgeri’s three-run shot and Spencer Torkelson’s two-run homer broke the game open in the fifth. Finally, Yohandy Morales supplied Washington’s scoring with a two-run homer in the eighth. San Francisco Giants 5, Minnesota Twins 2
San Francisco scored four runs in the first two innings and received a milestone debut from Bo Davidson in a 5-2 victory over Minnesota.
Brett Harris opened the scoring with a two-run single in the first. Afterward, Drew Gilbert added a two-run single in the second before homering in the fifth. In addition, Davidson collected his first major-league hit, stole a base and scored. As a result, he became the first Giant since Johnny Vergez in 1931 to accomplish all three in his debut.
