Milwaukee completed an NLCS sweep to claim its first pennant since 1982, while Cleveland edged Tampa Bay to take control of the American League Championship Series.
The MLB playoff scores from Thursday, October 15, 2026, produced the postseason’s first World Series qualifier. The Milwaukee Brewers rallied past the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 to finish a four-game sweep. Earlier, the Cleveland Guardians defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 3-2 and moved ahead 2-1 in the ALCS.
Both games turned on timely home runs. Garrett Mitchell broke a tie for Milwaukee, while Petey Halpin supplied Cleveland’s decisive swing. Scores, series records and pitching decisions were verified against MLB’s official October 15 scoreboard.
Cleveland Guardians 3, Tampa Bay Rays 2
Petey Halpin hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning, lifting Cleveland past Tampa Bay and giving the Guardians a 2-1 lead in the American League Championship Series.
Nathaniel Lowe opened the scoring with an RBI double in the second. However, Chandler Simpson answered for the Rays with a two-run triple in the fourth. The 102.1 mph drive was the hardest-hit non-ground ball of Simpson’s career.
Cleveland responded one inning later. Halpin turned on a Griffin Jax pitch and sent it over the wall for the game’s final two runs. Meanwhile, Gavin Williams struck out nine and kept the Guardians close enough for the comeback.
From there, Cleveland’s bullpen protected the one-run advantage. Cade Smith escaped an eighth-inning threat, then finished the ninth for his second postseason save. As a result, the Guardians became the Game 3 winner in a series that had been tied 1-1.
- Final: Guardians 3, Rays 2
- Winning pitcher: Gavin Williams (2-0)
- Losing pitcher: Griffin Jax (0-1)
- Save: Cade Smith (2)

Milwaukee erased an early four-run deficit, completed a four-game sweep and captured its first National League pennant since 1982.
Los Angeles struck first in the second inning. Andy Pages delivered an RBI single before Shohei Ohtani launched a three-run homer, ending a 115-plate-appearance stretch without a home run.
Nevertheless, the Brewers steadily answered. Jake Bauers hit a two-run ground-rule double in the fourth. Then, David Hamilton singled home a run in the fifth and scored the tying run when Bauers drew a bases-loaded walk.
Mitchell put Milwaukee ahead for good with a sixth-inning solo homer against Tanner Scott. JoJo Romero then stranded the tying run and earned the victory. In addition, Hamilton provided insurance with a ninth-inning homer off Edwin DÃaz.
Aaron Ashby recorded the final four outs for his second postseason save. Consequently, Milwaukee secured the NL pennant and advanced to the World Series for the second time in franchise history. The Brewers will now pursue their first championship.
