2026 AFC North Preview: Ravens, Bengals, Steelers and Browns Predictions and Odds

The AFC North enters the 2026 NFL season with sweeping changes, enormous quarterback questions and three teams capable of reaching the playoffs.

The Pittsburgh Steelers won the division with a 10-7 record in 2025, but their playoff exit brought an end to Mike Tomlin’s historic tenure. Baltimore stumbled to 8-9 despite entering the year with championship expectations, Cincinnati finished 6-11 after another injury to Joe Burrow, and Cleveland went 5-12.

MyBookie’s futures market nevertheless identifies the Baltimore Ravens—not defending champion Pittsburgh—as the team to beat. Cincinnati is close behind, while Pittsburgh sits at a more distant price and Cleveland enters as a significant long shot.

Baltimore Ravens Preview: A New Coach Inherits a Championship-Caliber Core

2025 record: 8-9
MyBookie AFC North odds: -106
MyBookie Super Bowl odds: +1050
Projected record: 12-5

Baltimore’s disappointing 2025 season prompted the organization to make a change that once seemed almost unthinkable. John Harbaugh is gone after 18 seasons, and former Los Angeles Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter takes over as head coach.

Minter inherits a roster that remains capable of competing for a Super Bowl immediately.

Everything begins with Lamar Jackson, whose health will be the defining variable in Baltimore’s season. Jackson battled injuries in 2025 but remains one of the NFL’s most dangerous quarterbacks when available. His ability to create explosive plays as both a passer and runner forces opponents to construct a defensive game plan unlike any other.

Jackson will work under first-year offensive coordinator Declan Doyle, who arrives after spending 2025 with Ben Johnson in Chicago. Baltimore is expected to incorporate more pre-snap motion and three-receiver formations, potentially giving Jackson more favorable passing opportunities. Jackson said late in August that he felt comfortable and prepared after spending the offseason learning Doyle’s system.

Oh, Henry

Derrick Henry remains the centerpiece of the running game, while Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Mark Andrews give Jackson an established group of receiving targets. The Ravens also invested a first-round selection in guard Vega Ioane, hoping the rookie can immediately strengthen an offensive line that lost center Tyler Linderbaum.

The most important addition may be edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, who arrives from Cincinnati after recording elite pass-rush grades in each of the past three seasons. Hendrickson gives Baltimore the proven outside pressure it lacked during portions of 2025.

Minter will also build around linebacker Roquan Smith, safety Kyle Hamilton and cornerback Marlon Humphrey. The possible return of defensive lineman Nnamdi Madubuike from a serious neck injury would further elevate the unit, although Baltimore must be careful with his recovery.

Biggest strength: Jackson, Henry and an offense capable of controlling games on the ground or producing explosive plays through the air.

Biggest concern: Offensive-line transition and the uncertainty that comes with an entirely new coaching staff.

Outlook: The Ravens have the division’s deepest and most balanced roster. If Jackson stays healthy and Minter improves the defense, Baltimore should rebound from its losing season and reclaim the AFC North.

Cincinnati Bengals Preview: Joe Burrow’s Health Holds the Key

2025 record: 6-11
MyBookie AFC North odds: +181
MyBookie Super Bowl odds: +1580
Projected record: 11-6

Few NFL teams are more difficult to evaluate than Cincinnati.

When Burrow is healthy, the Bengals can beat any opponent in the league. When he is unavailable, Cincinnati’s weaknesses elsewhere become much more difficult to overcome. That pattern continued in 2025 when a toe injury requiring surgery cost Burrow nine games and effectively ended Cincinnati’s playoff hopes.

The Bengals have now missed the postseason in three consecutive seasons, placing significant pressure on head coach Zac Taylor. He is the only returning AFC North head coach from last season, but that continuity will provide little protection if Cincinnati falls short again.

Two of the Best

Burrow still has one of football’s best receiving combinations in Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Their route running, contested-catch ability and chemistry with Burrow give Cincinnati an elite passing-game ceiling. The Bengals’ initial 53-man roster also includes five tight ends, suggesting the offense could use more varied formations in an effort to create favorable matchups.

The offensive line remains crucial. Guard Dylan Fairchild played well during the second half of his rookie season, and the Bengals added developmental depth through the draft. Cincinnati does not need an elite line to contend, but it must keep Burrow upright after repeated injuries disrupted several seasons.

The more dramatic offseason work came on defense.

Cincinnati acquired star defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence in a blockbuster trade and added Jonathan Allen, Boye Mafe, Bryan Cook and Kyle Dugger. Lawrence and Allen have the potential to transform a defensive front that too often failed to control the line of scrimmage.

Those additions were necessary after Hendrickson departed for Baltimore. Cincinnati may not replace his individual pass-rushing production, but the defense should be deeper and more balanced than it was last season.

Biggest strength: Burrow throwing to Chase and Higgins.

Biggest concern: Burrow’s availability and an offensive line that must prove it can protect him consistently.

Outlook: Cincinnati may be the most attractive division wager at +181. The Bengals have made meaningful defensive improvements, and their offensive ceiling remains exceptionally high. If Burrow starts 16 or 17 games, Cincinnati should challenge Baltimore for the division and return to the playoffs.

Pittsburgh Steelers Preview: Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy Reunite

2025 record: 10-7
MyBookie AFC North odds: +500
MyBookie Super Bowl odds: +6000
Projected record: 9-8

The defending AFC North champions begin a new era with two of the most recognizable figures in modern NFL history.

Mike McCarthy returns to his hometown to replace Tomlin, while Aaron Rodgers will play what he has described as his final NFL season. Their reunion creates one of the league’s most fascinating experiments: Can the coach-quarterback combination that won a Super Bowl in Green Bay summon one more successful run in Pittsburgh?

Rodgers will be 42 during the season, making durability and late-career decline legitimate concerns. The Steelers have Mason Rudolph as their experienced backup, while Will Howard and rookie Drew Allar represent developmental options for 2027 and beyond. Pittsburgh carried all four quarterbacks on its initial roster, although Howard recently underwent an evaluation for a head injury.

The supporting cast is much better than it was during several of Pittsburgh’s recent seasons. DK Metcalf returns as the primary downfield threat, while Michael Pittman Jr. provides Rodgers with a reliable possession receiver. Pittman dropped fewer than 5% of his catchable targets in each of the previous four seasons, according to Pro Football Focus.

Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington give McCarthy two capable tight ends. Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle will share the backfield behind an offensive line that added first-round tackle Max Iheanachor.

How much is in the tank?

That lineup should allow Pittsburgh to create a more balanced and aggressive offense, but everything depends on how much Rodgers has left. If he cannot consistently push the ball downfield or avoid pressure, the Steelers could once again become overly dependent on their defense.

T.J. Watt remains the centerpiece of that unit. Pittsburgh also added cornerback Jamel Dean, who should strengthen a secondary already designed to produce turnovers and limit explosive passes. Dean allowed a passer rating of only 47.7 when targeted last season, according to PFF.

Biggest strength: A talented defense and a deeper collection of receivers than Pittsburgh has fielded in recent years.

Biggest concern: Rodgers’ age, health and ability to remain effective for an entire 17-game season.

Outlook: Pittsburgh should remain competitive, but its +500 division odds reflect the uncertainty surrounding its quarterback and coaching transition. The Steelers can reach the playoffs if the McCarthy-Rodgers reunion works, but Baltimore and Cincinnati possess higher offensive ceilings.

Cleveland Browns Preview: Todd Monken Faces a Difficult Rebuild

2025 record: 5-12
MyBookie AFC North odds: +2200
MyBookie Super Bowl odds: +20000
Projected record: 5-12

The Browns enter another transition period following the dismissal of Kevin Stefanski. Former Baltimore offensive coordinator Todd Monken takes over as a first-time NFL head coach, inheriting a young roster and one of the league’s most complicated quarterback situations.

Deshaun Watson won the starting job after missing the entire 2025 season while recovering from multiple Achilles procedures. Watson has made only 19 starts since joining Cleveland and owns a 9-10 record with the Browns. His performance has fallen well short of the level he once reached in Houston.

Shedeur Sanders will begin the year behind Watson after making seven starts during his rookie season. Dillon Gabriel was placed on injured reserve with a back injury and must miss at least four games, leaving rookie Taylen Green as the other available quarterback on the initial roster.

Is this the year?

Monken has experience designing aggressive passing attacks, but no scheme can completely compensate for unreliable quarterback play. Watson must demonstrate improved timing, accuracy and pocket confidence. If he struggles, pressure to play Sanders could arrive quickly.

Tight end Harold Fannin Jr. is one of Cleveland’s most promising offensive pieces after ranking fourth among rookies in receiving yards last season. The Browns have also rebuilt much of their offensive line, although the group may need time to develop chemistry.

The defense will look dramatically different without Myles Garrett and former coordinator Jim Schwartz. Cleveland traded Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams after he set the NFL’s single-season sack record with 23 in 2025.

The Browns received young edge rusher Jared Verse and valuable draft capital in the trade. Verse joins linebacker Carson Schwesinger, cornerback Denzel Ward and defensive tackle Mason Graham in a young defensive nucleus that offers long-term promise. Replacing Garrett’s impact, however, is an almost impossible immediate assignment.

Biggest strength: A promising young defensive core and additional draft capital for the future.

Biggest concern: Quarterback instability and the loss of Garrett’s game-changing pass rush.

Outlook: Cleveland should treat 2026 as an evaluation year. Monken needs to determine whether Watson or Sanders can be part of the solution while developing a young defense around Verse, Schwesinger and Graham. The Browns could be competitive on certain Sundays, but winning the division would require a remarkable turnaround.

2026 AFC North Predictions and Projected Standings

  1. Baltimore Ravens: 12-5
  2. Cincinnati Bengals: 11-6
  3. Pittsburgh Steelers: 9-8
  4. Cleveland Browns: 5-12

Baltimore is the most complete team in the AFC North. The Ravens possess an elite quarterback, a punishing running game and a defense that added one of the league’s most productive pass rushers. Minter’s first season will bring uncertainty, but he inherited enough established talent to win immediately.

Cincinnati is the division’s most dangerous challenger. The additions of Lawrence and Allen could finally provide Burrow with a defense capable of supporting a championship run. The Bengals’ season, however, remains dependent on their quarterback’s health.

Pittsburgh should be competitive once again, but asking a 42-year-old Rodgers to carry the offense for an entire season represents a substantial risk. Cleveland remains multiple steps behind its divisional opponents and appears more focused on building for 2027.

Final prediction: Baltimore wins the AFC North, Cincinnati earns a wild-card berth and Pittsburgh remains in the playoff race into December.
