INDIANAPOLIS — Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell turned Indiana’s final game before the FIBA Women’s World Cup break into an offensive showcase.
Clark and Mitchell each poured in 34 points, leading the Fever to a 111-91 victory over Connecticut and pushing Indiana’s record to 26-14.
Clark shot 12-of-19 from the field and 6-of-12 from 3-point range, adding 12 assists, five rebounds and three steals. The performance marked another 30-point, 10-assist double-double for the Fever superstar.
Mitchell was equally devastating, shooting 12-of-19 while hitting four 3-pointers and adding four assists.
It was the fourth game this season in which Clark and Mitchell both scored at least 30 points, extending their WNBA single-season record for a duo.
Mitchell also extended her remarkable streak to 24 consecutive games with at least 20 points.
Indiana has now won seven of its last nine games and heads into the international break looking increasingly dangerous ahead of the WNBA playoffs.
Connecticut fell to 10-29.
Turning Point: Indiana’s stars simply overwhelmed Connecticut offensively. With Clark creating both her own shot and opportunities for teammates and Mitchell continuing her historic scoring streak, the Sun had no sustainable defensive answer.
Star of the Game: Caitlin Clark — 34 points, 12 assists, five rebounds and three steals. Sharing the scoring lead with Mitchell makes this almost a co-star selection, but Clark’s 12 assists give her the slight edge.
Portland Fire 101, Atlanta Dream 83
ATLANTA — Portland delivered one of its most impressive offensive performances of the season Friday, stunning playoff-bound Atlanta 101-83.
Carla Leite scored 26 points on a remarkably efficient 9-of-13 shooting while going a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc and 4-for-4 at the free-throw line.
Leite also contributed six assists and two steals.
Emily Engstler added a career-high 25 points, giving Portland another major scoring weapon in a game where the Fire repeatedly punished Atlanta’s defense.
Atlanta received 26 points from Rhyne Howard, who connected on six 3-pointers.
Angel Reese recorded 16 points and 16 rebounds, adding another double-double to her record-setting rebounding season, but Atlanta couldn’t slow Portland enough to mount a serious comeback.
The result moved Portland to 16-23 while dropping Atlanta to 25-14.
For a Fire team already eliminated from postseason contention, beating one of the WNBA’s top clubs provided another indication of the young franchise’s potential.
Turning Point: Portland’s offensive efficiency. The Fire continually found quality looks and crossed the 100-point mark against a Dream team that entered the night firmly positioned in the playoff field.
Star of the Game: Carla Leite — 26 points, six assists and 4-for-4 shooting from 3-point range. Leite’s efficiency helped Portland produce one of Friday’s biggest surprises.
Los Angeles Sparks 88, Washington Mystics 82
LOS ANGELES — The Sparks refused to fold after falling behind by 17 points.
Los Angeles erased the large deficit and stormed past Washington 88-82 behind a balanced attack led by Nneka Ogwumike’s 24 points.
Washington controlled much of the first half and carried an 11-point advantage into halftime, but Los Angeles completely changed the game after the break.
The Sparks cut the deficit to three during the third quarter before outscoring Washington 23-14 in the fourth.
Rae Burrell scored 12 of her 15 points in the final quarter, providing the late offensive spark that pushed Los Angeles across the finish line.
Cameron Brink added 13 points and five rebounds.
Los Angeles took advantage of Washington’s mistakes throughout the comeback. The Mystics committed 17 turnovers, which the Sparks converted into 31 points.
The Sparks also dominated the paint 50-34 and recorded 28 assists on 36 made baskets.
Sonia Citron led Washington with 22 points, but the Mystics couldn’t protect their sizable early advantage.
Los Angeles improved to 14-25 while Washington dropped to 24-16.
Turning Point: The second half. Los Angeles turned an 11-point halftime deficit into a three-point game entering the fourth before Burrell took over during the final period.
Star of the Game: Nneka Ogwumike — 24 points. Ogwumike supplied the consistent scoring foundation that allowed the Sparks to remain within striking distance before their late surge.
Las Vegas Aces 93, Toronto Tempo 73
LAS VEGAS — A’ja Wilson delivered another MVP-caliber performance as Las Vegas cruised past Toronto 93-73.
Wilson finished with 27 points and eight rebounds, shooting 10-of-17 from the field and 7-of-8 at the free-throw line.
She also contributed two blocks and a steal while needing just over 30 minutes to make her impact.
The victory improved Las Vegas to 27-13, strengthening the Aces’ position near the top of the WNBA playoff standings.
Toronto, meanwhile, dropped to 11-28 as its difficult late-season stretch continued.
Las Vegas has increasingly found its form as the postseason approaches. With Wilson anchoring both ends of the floor and the Aces climbing toward the top of the playoff bracket, the defending contenders remain one of the most dangerous teams in the league.
Turning Point: Las Vegas’ ability to consistently play through Wilson. Toronto had no effective answer for the former MVP inside, allowing the Aces to control the game and pull away for a comfortable 20-point victory.
Star of the Game: A’ja Wilson — 27 points and eight rebounds. Wilson shot 58.8 percent from the field and once again powered the Las Vegas offense.

The eight-team playoff field has already been determined, but the battle for seeding remains a major storyline as the regular season approaches its conclusion.
