Lando Norris delivered a dramatic victory in Formula One’s Dutch Grand Prix on Sunday, highlighting a crowded international auto-racing schedule that also featured Kyle Kirkwood’s commanding IndyCar win in Washington, Broc Feeney’s improbable Supercars title triumph in Australia and another dominant performance from Pfaff Motorsports in IMSA competition.

From the dunes of Zandvoort to the streets of the American capital, Sunday’s races produced major championship swings, costly mechanical failures and several memorable victories.

Norris Wins Chaotic Dutch Grand Prix

Norris recovered from an early disruption and overtook championship leader Kimi Antonelli late in the race to win the Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort.

The McLaren driver started from pole position but lost control of the race following a restart prompted by Max Verstappen’s opening-lap crash. Norris eventually closed on Antonelli with fresher tires and reclaimed the lead with 18 laps remaining.

Antonelli finished second for Mercedes, while teammate George Russell completed the podium in third. Lewis Hamilton placed fourth for Ferrari, followed by Charles Leclerc, Oscar Piastri and Liam Lawson.

Verstappen’s early exit stunned the home crowd. The Dutch driver crashed heavily near the final corner but escaped without serious injury.

The result gave McLaren its third consecutive victory at Zandvoort and moved Norris into fourth place in the drivers’ standings. Antonelli nevertheless strengthened his championship position and now holds a 59-point advantage over Russell and Hamilton, who are tied for second.

Kirkwood Controls Inaugural Washington IndyCar Race

Kyle Kirkwood dominated IndyCar’s first Freedom 250 Grand Prix on the streets of Washington, D.C., leading 128 of 147 laps and surviving a succession of late restarts.

The Andretti Global driver took the checkered flag 3.1 seconds ahead of Arrow McLaren’s Christian Lundgaard. Will Power finished third, giving Andretti two cars on the podium.

The 250-mile race was contested on a 1.7-mile street circuit constructed around Pennsylvania Avenue and the National Mall. Six caution periods interrupted the event, with David Malukas, Sting Ray Robb, Marcus Armstrong, Christian Rasmussen and Scott McLaughlin among the drivers involved in incidents.

Championship leader Alex Palou endured his most difficult race of the season. After starting from pole, Palou received a drive-through penalty and later crashed, leaving him 20th in the final order.

Kirkwood’s second victory of the season reduced Palou’s championship lead to 91 points. Lundgaard, Power, Pato O’Ward and Josef Newgarden completed the top six. FIA event report

Feeney Steals Supercars Sprint Cup in Ipswich Finale

Broc Feeney turned a 110-point deficit into a Sprint Cup championship at Queensland Raceway, winning the final race of the Ipswich Super 440 after leader Matt Payne suffered an engine failure.

Payne entered Sunday needing only a 17th-place finish to secure the title. Instead, his Ford stopped midway through the race, opening the door for Feeney to complete a remarkable comeback.

Feeney moved ahead of pole-sitter Will Brown and controlled the closing portion of the race to earn his sixth victory of the season. Brodie Kostecki finished second, while Brown secured his third podium of the weekend.

The result cut Payne’s overall championship advantage to 30 points and moved Kostecki into third place ahead of Cam Waters. Feeney also received an automatic place in the Supercars Finals and 25 bonus points for winning the Sprint Cup.

Pfaff Lamborghini Dominates IMSA at VIR

Andrea Caldarelli and Sandy Mitchell drove the No. 9 Pfaff Motorsports Lamborghini Temerario GT3 to an overall victory in the Michelin GT Challenge at Virginia International Raceway.

The pair controlled the GT-only round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and recorded their second consecutive victory at VIR. Their result moved them within 56 points of the GTD PRO championship lead with two races remaining.

The No. 14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus finished second in GTD PRO, followed by the No. 59 RLL Team McLaren. A late drive-through penalty for avoidable contact dropped the No. 77 AO Racing Porsche of Nick Tandy and Harry King to ninth.

In the GTD class, Philip Ellis and Russell Ward delivered a third consecutive victory for Winward Racing in the No. 57 Mercedes-AMG GT3. The streak completed a substantial championship turnaround and moved the team into the class points lead by 36.

Winward inherited the victory after a late collision resulted in a drive-through penalty for the rival car attempting to reclaim the position. Official IMSA report

Morgan Takes Two in British Touring Cars

Adam Morgan completed a two-win weekend in the British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park by capturing Sunday’s third race.

Morgan began Race 3 from the front row alongside reverse-grid pole sitter Chris Smiley and converted the opportunity into his second victory of the meeting. It was also his third win across the championship’s last two events.

Morgan earlier won Race 1, while Dan Cammish claimed Race 2. The results added further pressure to a closely contested championship battle as the British series entered the closing stages of its season.

Palmowski Extends F1 Academy Lead

Alisha Palmowski strengthened her F1 Academy championship position with a controlled Feature Race victory at Zandvoort.

Palmowski completed the 17-lap race 2.765 seconds ahead of Alba Hurup Larsen. Nina Gademan finished third, more than 11 seconds behind the winner, while Nicole Granada placed fourth.

The victory followed Palmowski’s pole position in changing wet-to-dry conditions and further established her as the championship favorite. Zandvoort race results

NASCAR Race Continues in Damp New Hampshire Conditions

The NASCAR Cup Series’ Dollar Tree 301 remained in progress at New Hampshire Motor Speedway at the time of publication.

Kyle Larson won the opening 70-lap stage as drivers navigated a damp track and changing conditions. William Byron encountered an early setback when NASCAR penalized him after his car left pit road with a chassis-adjustment wrench still attached.

Tyler Reddick started from pole after recording a 131.094-mph qualifying lap, with Josh Berry, Byron, Denny Hamlin and Shane van Gisbergen completing the first five starting positions.

The 301-lap race is the penultimate event of NASCAR’s regular season and carries major implications for drivers attempting to qualify for the Chase. NASCAR live race report
